About Me
My name is Lissette Gonzalez, founder and owner of OL. I wasn’t always a professional organizer. I actually taught high school math for 15 years, was a military spouse for 7 years, and a stay-at-home mom (of two under two) for 4 years. My God-given talents of problem-solving, analytical thinking, helping people, and a passion for efficiency led me to helping others discover internal peace through organizing their external environment.
My approach to home organizing is rooted in empathy and understanding. I know firsthand how overwhelming life can become, especially for new parents or those undergoing major life changes. After becoming a mom to two daughters, just 13 months apart, and navigating the challenges of the pandemic without a support system, I struggled with mental health during that time, and organizing my home was what I did in order to create a sense of control and peace. Helping others gain control of their external environment to create peace within is my way of coming full circle and giving back to others who need a helping hand.
More Than Organizing—It’s About Life Transformation
Several studies, particularly from UCLA, have shown a strong correlation between clutter and negative mental health impacts, including increased stress hormone (cortisol) levels, decreased mood, and feelings of overwhelm, especially among women who live in cluttered homes; essentially, a messy environment can contribute to feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression by constantly stimulating the brain with visual clutter, making it harder to relax and focus. My tagline ‘Organizing life from the outside in’ encapsulates this philosophy.
For me, helping people declutter isn’t just a job—it’s a calling. I feel honored when someone invites me into their home and trusts me with the areas they are least proud of. A lot of people feel embarrassed or are afraid of judgment. It is a vulnerable thing to ask for help; you can trust Organized Living to take personal care of each situation, without judgment.
